At the risk of sounding Bene Gesserit-y,

Villeneuve’s Dune is the destined herald of a great change that is finally at hand:

the beginning of the end of humanity’s Superhero addiction/obsession/escapism (such rampant profit-gorging was never going to last forever),

and an invitation for us to go inward,

as is Dune’s core premise — the Desert being this quiet, introspective place — and of Arrakis, this single planet, being the site of an infinitely far-reaching change taking place.

The time has come for humanity and filmmaking as an artform to evolve away from blind, opportunistic, hollow,

‘everyone gets a spin-off series’-style consumerism,

And for an ‘art-above-all’ (and ‘commerce-as-art’s side effect’) ethos, as embodied by Villeneuve in all he and his team does, to lead the way.

This film is the Kwisatz Haderach — few are truly prepared for its unexpected impact.

Additionally,

Villeneuve’s Dune will bring about long-needed great healing between east and west (unfair stigmatisation/generalisation/stereotypification of an entire culture, in this case Arabic),

as an unabashed love letter to the former from the latter (down to specific words being used like Shai-Hulud, ‘Divine Thing’) —

a grand return to showing Arabic culture/philosophies/words/mysticism/teachings the respect and wonder they once held (sooo many things in culture have ancient Persian origins, for instance), as discussed with my pal u/hassananebalal here on r/dune.

Those’ll just be the ‘Trojan horse’ effects, though —

Dune, first and foremost, will stride through the doors that Godzilla Vs Kong wedged open back in March:

A literally colossal (Sandworms, but also the entire philosophical and cinematic scope of the film) return to cinemagoing,

With crowds worldwide returning again and again for the sheer spectacle,

the ‘every-frame-a-painting’,

the ‘thinking-person’s-Star-Wars’,

the ‘hot young stars’ (Zendaya and Chalamet),

and the Zeitgeist issues of environmentalism, governments/politics of it all.

Also, in one stroke, it will repair some of the damage done to both Game of Thrones and Star Wars, both children of Dune.

Какво стана с римейка на Willow, само тоя филм май очаквам с някакъв интерес. Ще бъда доста груб, киното от няколко години е добре втасали лайна подравени с 2-3 развалени яйца.
